Tyre Question

As my build has taken a lifetime - well 7 years, although the majority was completed in year one! - I have a question about the tyres which I
purchased in mid 2004.
I bought my tyres at that time, as i) I thought I would be completeing the build soon after and ii) I got a very good deal for them with the wheels I
bought. The tyres are Yoko 048s, and were fitted on the wheels at that time, but since then they have had periods off the car, they have been on the
car on the deck and up on axle stands. When the car has been on the deck, it has been moved around so they have not been left in the same position.
They have not gone down, there are no bulges in them and most of all there are no indications of perishing or any type of cracking.
My question is has anyone had tyres of the same age, used them and had any problems, ie blow outs, sudden loss of pressure, delaminating, or does
anyone know of any other potential problem with using tyres of this age?
I have spoken to a supplier that supplies to various racers, and he told me that Yoko only recommend up to 5 years (although that includes being
used), but he would have no problem using them.
I believe there was a posting somewhere about this, but if it was on this forum I cannot find it.
My car is only going to be used for the track, and I have no plans to IVA it.

Id use them, expect them to be less grippy and inspect them regularly.
You wont be going 10/10ths for a long while till youve properly shaken the car down and youll likely be in and out of the pits inspecting other things
anyway.

I can't give you a definitive answer, but I'd be happy to run them.
Have they been kept out of direct sunlight? It's UV that does the most damage

tend to agree, keep an eye on them I would be happy to get some life out of them (I am running with older but good tires as well), it's sun i.e.
UV that's a major problem, so long as they have been inside/in the shade most of the time you should be o.k. Mine where stored for years in the
yard/under cover or in the garage. The 5 year thing is very subjective and I suspect is for worst case i.e. spare wheel fully exposed to the sun on
the back of the car, to cover the manufacture for ageing causing tyre failure; it is however a major problem for caravan wheels and that's a
different matter (they are normally highly stressed much more than a car tire).
If you use them though it will be at your risk (i.e. I have no idea if they might fail or not!)..

I don't really have a problem with using them. Sunlight does get into the garage, but the windows are frosted so it shouldn't be to bad.

As above. They go off after around 12 months of age. But fine for use, just less grip than a fresh set.

I'll be doing something similar with mine 
I should let you know your a long, long way off the longest ever rush build (I know of one that must nearing 15 years 
)
