Does anyone know what rack the lower UJ is from on page 70. The one I have from a Sierra rack has a great fat rubber joint. I'm after a narrower
bit.
Cheers
I think that is also Sierra. Some had a rubber coupling and some a UJ. I could only find rubber ones when looking for mine.
There have been previous posts regarding steering UJ's which may give more info.
Depends which version of the book!
My copy suggests using an Allegro steering column - perhaps the UJ is from that. The later book probably has a Sierra column because of the crumple
zone requirement in the SVA test.
An earlier post on this topic gave it as an Allegro lower joint, I suspect that other BL cars, ie Princess, Marina might have had similar.
Hi,
You can buy one of these joints from Rally Design for about £18 IIRC. They are called "Group 4 Steering Coupling" in the catalogue and have
splines to match the Sierra/Escort racks at both ends. There is also another company who can supply the joint AND a little piece of steel bar with the
splines already machined. Check posts on this forum over the last 3 months or so. I'll check too in a moment and post a link if I can find it.
Found it:

Cambridge Motorsport it is.

Cheers.
PS is it just my eyes, or is the rally design website totally illegible ?
I agree, it's a scan of their brochure (laziness )

Yes but they will give you a free catalogue if you ask them. It is actually a magazine (C&CC IIRC) but it has a large Raldes section. Despite
their very poor website I have always found them to be a useful company so don't let that put you off...
Cheers,
Craig.
