At present I have the standard Sierra 185/65/R/14 tyres on 14 x 5.5 steel wheels.
I'd like to go to narrower tyres to make it look more like the traditional 1960s Seven.
What do you suggest for narrower tyres for the 5.5 rims?
Alternatively, is there a car with narrower rims and tyres that would have the same PCD etc as the Sierra ones?
I'm assuming that with the weight of the Seven being less than that of the Sierra that narrower tyres would be suitable - I'm not going for
track performance, just fun.
I had 165/65/13 on my 13" Sierra steel rims and they were fine. I think they were 5" rims.
Alfa Giulia 105 series come in 4.5" and 5" with the same PCD. Normally lots on ebay as people upgrade to alloys or the cars surrender to
rust.
I have a set but wont be selling for a while.

Sierra uses the standard Ford 4 stud on 4.25" pcd that ran from the 105e Anglia right through to early Mondeo. Other manufacturers to
use this included Rootes/Chrysler UK and Peugeot.
Going back to the late 1960s Lotus were using standard 165/80 section tyres on J5.5 x 13" rims The problem will be getting reasonable
soft rubber in 165x14" --- 14" was never well served for decent rubber, it would be easier to find good 13" rubber.
Be aware of the need to check for clearance between the brakes and rim when fitting 13" to Sierra based suspension ---
Thanks people
Ideally, I'd like to stick with my 5.5 rims ( just cos I'm mean ) and I want to stay with 14 inch, not 13. So I guess the question is - how
narrow can I safely go with a tyre on a 14 x5.5 rim ? According to BT's post 165 would be ok, but can I go narrower ?
