precut baseplate for sausage filter?
-matt - 21/9/11 at 09:19 PM

Im after a airfilter for my 2008 R1 in my indy.

Im going to go with a simple sausage filter for now, but don't really wan't the hassle of making the baseplate.

so can anyone tell me where i can get either a pipercross or itg filter with a precut baseplate for an 08 R1?

cheers

I'm no sheet metal expert but I made the plate for my zx9r carbs in about an hour. I used 1.2 mm plate some hole cutters a grinder and a set of nibblers. Most of the adaptor plates available seem to be for twin webers etc.

For fitting filter baseplates that are not pre cut the manufacturers usually do an un cut blank that you measure and cut.

mnr do one for the 2005 engine, i'm sure they either already do, or could easily do one for the 2008

I do the 2mm thick PX600 type baseplate in 'blank' form, £18 delivered.

Ok thanks,

perhaps i might be best off trying to make my own.

also, do i just bolt the baseplate to the T.B? or do i need to incorporate the trumpets somehow?

cheers

hmm, im not too sure how im going to mount the plate as the 08 T.B has the extra ?motor thats raised up.

like this:

The only way i can think of is to use these from the original airbox, cut the 2 brackets off, then bond the base plate to this?

so does anyone have any ideas on this?

cheers

Can you not use the OE airbox?

This would be my first choice..... However, I do have a sheet of Carbon Fibre/Kevlar Hybrid PrePreg that would be big enough for a baseplate (which could be easily cut by me from some Dims), and I also have a Pipercross Sausage Filter for sale...
