De Dion Brake Pipe

Any reason why I can't have solid lines running along the De Dion and into the calipers?
All the set-ups I've seen when searchinfg for the answer show a flexi pipe from the tunnel to a T piece on the axle (as I was planning) but then additional flexis to the rear calipers coming off the solid line on the axle.

Like this-no problem

Yeah like that along the axle but solid lines into the calipers? You still have flexis into yours.......

Calipers appears to be floating so needs flexi

Flexes allow you to change the pads easily

Floating calipers move when applied (if the sliders haven't seized!), so need flexible hoses. If you have 2 or 4 pot calipers (or drum brakes) you could use solid line.

....and since you need the flexibles at the calipers you might aswell run them direct from the chassis to the caliper to save having the third flexible
(unless there is no other way of routing the pipes neatly)

OK, just me being thick then.....and tight

Strangely flexies were never required for floating wheel cylinders ---

Not directly related but how are those rigid pipes fixed? Is it OK to drill the DeDion to fix brackets? (I appreciate they're only small holes).

Even small holes in stressed parts are best avoided if possible

You can use puka series Landrover band clamps but a common method of doing this large jubilee clips --- the pipe should be protected from caffing by slipping lengths of suitable rubber or soft plastic hose over it before flairing.

Another way is to weld retaining tags on as per For english axle.
