Need to purchace some discs and pads to suit my Sierra system.
Looking for your respected opinions /experience on which and from where for good performance / cost /(looks?)
Using 4x4 rear hubs and calipers-solid disc and std front hubs with 4x4 calipers-vented discs.
Like the look of Black diamond, do they stay black and not rust? But am looking at black wheels so may not be the most aesthetic choice?
Cheers
No they dont stay black once the brakes have been applied
We think our Rossini Vented/grooved/drilled discs front and drilled/grooved rears look the business for £226.78. Regarding the price, most OEM and
replacement Disc Brake Blanks come from China, Poland, India and Italy now, so quality is not really an issue. They do a mighty fine job of halting us
too. They were from Car Parts Direct arrived next day when ordered. Here have a look:
Were just using Ferodo pads for now and they seem to do a satisfactory job - though no track days as yet

i used black diamonds on my last kit,the colour on the disc where the pad runs faded slightly but i only did a few thousand miles in it but they defo didnt rust unlike the standard solid ones i used for the back,iv brought the same diamond discs for the one im building now becouse the brakes were amazing but the brakes would probably be amazing even with standard ones on the front
Standard disks are up to the job of stopping a fast sierra.
So they are not going to be pused on a 7.
Only reason to buy anything other than Standard parts is for looks..
And just use Mintex 1144's
TT
yip thats why i brought them, the whole car was based on looks
Hi All,
How much is a set of standard Sierra discs?
How much is a set of drilled discs to fit a Sierra?
Just wondered whether it would be worth
getting somebody with a CNC mill to write
a drill pattern program.
I have a mate with such a machine who
might be interested. He machined the
inside of my bellhousing to take a hydraulic clutch unit.
It was awesome to watch.

You have to be carefull locating teh holes as you have to avoid drilling the vent vains.
Standard pair probably £30 Drilled about £100 more.

Thanks for your input.
I think its made it more dificult to choose though.
There is definatly a cost issue here I like Hellfires Rossinis but there is a big difference in price from a new set of "standard" discs
which as mentioned performance wise are not going to be a problem, just wether you can put up with the looks.
If they are all going to rust including Black Diamonds then thats not a deciding factor.
I wondered myself about doing a Black and Decker to make my own drilled pattern
HMMMMMMM..........
ALSO My donor was a 4x4 with 260mm vented discs at front.
The hubs were binned and standard? ones aquired ( c my avatar!)
My calipers were exchanged, like for like from donor.
Do I now need 240 or 260 mm discs?
Hayelp!!!
I was not aware that the 4x4 calipers would work on the 2WD hubs..
It's not a question that I have ever heard askes or replied to.. If I remember ...
But my instinct says standard disks will not fit..
TT
I will rush out at first light and assess the situation
They jolly well better fit or i`m in the doo
Had my exchange calipers too long to take them back
Will report back..............................

Just tell the guy you need disc's to fit a 4x4 (and engine size) the offset is different IIRC for each engine size. I think 240 rings a bell, we had a similar problem, look in the website!!! Looks like you have identical problem my friend. We ended up with XR4x4 front discs...

All 4x4 stuff should be the same.
