Hi Guys,

Currently have a standard escort mk2 rack fitted to my car and it aint quick enough. As per title really, will a 2.9 be sufficient or should I go for a 2.4 ?

95 % of car use will be on the road if that makes any difference.

Oh and the standard rack will be for sale if anyone is interested.

I asked the same question once, I was told 2.9 for road use.

Just take extra care when you drive with it. It took me a summer to really get used to my 2.4 rack.
They are SO sensative.
At 70mph I strugged to keep in a straight line at first.

Also you will over compensate with the steering, and possibly lose control if you over do it.

Just take care and really get used to driving with a quick rack before pushing it.
I love mine now, and wouldnt swap it, but during those first few months, I hated it!

Dont have an accident due to inexperience with a quick rack.

I went for a 2.4 as allthough it will see a lot of road use I wanted to have a good 'half turn' for autosolo so I dont have to take my hands off much. Not tried it yet of course, but had a 2.7 quick rack in my nova which was excellent.

2.9 versus 2.4 isn't much of a numerical difference. But it could make your car unpleasant.
Perhaps you might try fitting a tiny steering wheel as a temporary? experiment to get a feel of what your wishing for ??

i just changed mine for a 2.4 turn
i have previous experience of quickracks from my oldskool escort days and would say the 2.9 is perfect for road use but on track the 2.4 is even better and fine for road with care
besides which after a go kart the steering on either feels slow

Agree, took me a a good few miles to feel comfortable with the sensitivity, of my 2.4 rack

i had a 2.9 and went to a 2.4. it was a bit quicker but not much.

what i will say is that when i drove the kitcar for the first time with the 2.9 it felt very sensitive until i got used to it so i would say a 2.4 may be a bit too sensitive if you have never drove a 7even style car for any period of time.
