capri laser diff?
DOEHEAD2 - 25/8/04 at 02:19 PM

can any one tell me what diff ratio a 2.0l laser capri has, as my pinto powered locost runs out of steam at about 95 mph, ive lifted car and turned driving wheels and for one turn of wheel prop turns 1 3/4 times (cant get to turn prop input) this seems very low is it?

if its not an lsd I think that ratio needs to be doubled as the other wheel will turn backwards. only lift one wheel and try it to verivy . 1.75 x2 around 3.55's (ish)I would guess.

you won't get any accurate figures if both wheels are off the ground.

You can't gauntee that it will be double as drag between the prop input and drive output will affect the rotation to a degree

If one wheel is firmly on the ground, then you can guarantee that the observed ratio is exactly half what it actualy is. If one wheel is of the ground but not braked etc. then all bets are off.

The one I found had the ally tag still on it reading 3.44:1. Have you got a 4 or 5 speed box?

i have a type 9 5 speed gearbox (possilbly out of granada dont know !)

What size wheels are you using? 13 inch?

95mph at what revs? If it's around the 6k mark then it sounds like a 4.1 diff is in there.

Higher ratio than 3.5 is hard to find.

wheels are 15" and approx revs at 4500!

Hi

Hows your engine running? I'd have thought it would rev higher than 4500
