Trying to get Axle Bearing back into live axle
RoadkillUK - 5/6/12 at 12:58 PM

This is a picture of my last effort, it just leaks as soon as it's put back in.

The problem is that the o-ring that you can see there gets sheared and ends up more of a "D" than an "O", you can see this if you look close.

So, my question is ... Do any of you knowledgeable out there know a trick that will work?

Thanks.

Lee.

ensure there is no burr on the casing gently file down. I assume u have tried greasing the seal as well if it is dry it will drag on the dry surface ?

I fit one recently, it didn't have a seal, it was a tight fit and i used loctite bearing fit just to make sure.
No leaks.

Mine were sealed bearings - tight fit - dont remember any sealing ring on mine - all good here .. no leaks..

Use some instant gasket - let it semi set in the groove and carefully assemble?

I chamfered the edge of the axle shaft and greased up the O-ring, I'll let you know how it got on

Thanks, folks.
