Front balljoint covers split- where to buy
James - 9/7/12 at 02:12 PM

One of the Cortina lower balljoint and one of the TRE balljoint rubbers have split on my car.

Is it possible to buy just the rubber? Or have I got to replace the whole joint!

If so, where? I've read Raldes sell them but I can't find them on their site.

Have I got the right name? Balljoint covers? Gaiters? Summat else?

Thanks!
James

If your stuck Roath Autos in Cardiff sell them in 5 sizes.

Any decent motor factors should sell them but you may have to buy a pack

Thread revival I know - but i'm at this stage now... I have the ubiquitous maxi balljoint underneath my Sierra front hubs.

Are the boots a set of standard sizes and I just need to buy ones that are close to the right size? Or do I need specific Maxi balljoint ones.

Best bet would be to remove the boot and measure the larger diameter and an average of the taper

I think I would just opt to replace the ball joint rather than just the boot, dirt & water is bound to have got in there then contaminated what little grease there is normally and they'll be knackered in no time.
