blockhead_rich - 12/9/04 at 07:10 PM

Can anyone tell me the cheapest place to buy wheel bearing kits for a Sierra XR4x4 (ABS version) from, can't seem to find anything on the net?

Also, is there any recommended method of identifying if the ones I think I should repleace are actually knackered?

Cheers
Rich

Hi Bob

Yep, already tried e bay, just thought that someone might know of another cheap source. Do yoy know if Cosworth ones would fit?

Not sure if there is any difference in the cosworth and 4x4 bearings, best bet would be to check with your local ford parts/dealer.

Try your local bearing distributor - have a look in Yellow pages. I did post on here a full list of all the bearing part numbers - have a search for it.

Go to Camberley Auto Factors, they got them next day for me at about £20 per side if I remember correctly.

The best source for automotive wheel bearing kits is BRT Bearings. They make the wheel bearing kits for most of the reputable brands in the UK and elsewhere.

My local Ford dealer wanted over £50!! - having a laugh or what?

Just need to sus out how to fit the b*****s when they arrieve> Anyone have any tips?

That's been covered on here before, try a search (although the search feature is a bit pap). basically, lever out the oil seals, tap the old bearing outers out from the back of each one with a drift (there's a groove in the middle of the hub carrier that makes it easy), tap the new outers in *using the old outers* so you don't mark them, make sure they're all the way in, then whack the new oil seals in with a flat bit of wood.
