Protech Sources/damper suggestions
chrisf - 21/9/04 at 02:16 PM

I'm in the market for front dampers. The post cost from the UK to US is very high, so I'd like to get this right the first time. It looks like the Gaz or Protech units are the best so far. I know the Gaz are single adjustable. Are the Protech single or double adjustable. I'm pretty sure I need 13" dampers. Is this size available from Protech?

I have not been able to find a source for the Protech dampers. Anyone know of good website to source these from? What about the detailed Protech specs such as extended length/compressed length, etc?

Any guidance is appreciated.

protech's are better as they're ally bodied whereas the others are steel bodied. protech can make the shocks whatever size you like. they have a website too, can't remember the url though

How much does it cost for a set of 4?

I was quoted £57 a corner at the donington show, plus springs on top..

Who did you get the 57 GBP quote from? That is a good price IMHO. What will kill me is the post from the UK.

I never got a reply from Protech themselves and I'm still waiting on a GTS quote. I suppose I should follow up on that one.

Does protech make a model specifically for the Locost? My concern is that I have not been able to find a dyno graph from any of the manufactures. As a buyer, I'm a bit at the whim of the manufacturer for getting the valving correct.

the quote was from protech themselves, they had a stand at the show. why not give them a ring? they were very helpful when i spoke to them. they will probably be able to set the valving near where you want it, but they are single adjustable for bump and rebound anyway.

You're right. I need to call a few places to get quotes and lead times. International calls are a bit pricy though.

Thanks for the help Ned.
