On my road car I thought I'd experiment with some slotted front disks and greenstuff pads.
The improvement was pretty damn good but the brakes rumble quite a lot when hot and it feels "funny" (hard to describe) through the steering when braking hard from high speed, especially in the 60-40 mph range.
Firstly is this typical?
Secondly:
I replaced a set of practically new plain disks with the slotted ones, would it be fine to put these back on again? The grooved disks are in good condition and not scored or anything so my assumption is that this would be ok with a bit of allowance for the pads to bed in a little with the different disks but is this the case?

Not an expert but...have alwyas been told not to do this, must always change pads with discs...but, a try out down the roasd surely wouldn't hurt?

Those are my thoughts. I think my main concern is whether the rumbling and vibration is normal for such disks. If it is then I won't bother changing them

Slotted discks are noisy. I had them on my Cav GSi, can feel the "slots"

I had ebc discs and greenstuff pads on my Rover 800 and they were definitely a bit "rumbly" and noisy. Settign them up properly helps a lot, my discs warped and I got them replaced under warranty so with the new ones I made sure they were located absolutely true when I fitted them and they were much better, quieter and less rumbly.
