Finally got round to putting the Rally Design quick rack and pinion in the spare rack only to find the donor rack is less than serviceable
Pinion bearing, thrust plate and pinion seal need replacing
Probably should also do the rack sliders at the same time

Can you buy a rack rebuild kit?
If so who from

why not exchange the standard rack for a recon,then fit the Rally Design quick rack and pinion to that?

Because its a lot of money a d I'm quite capable of rebuilding the one I have if I can find the parts

Snapper, i dont know if its any use to you but I have a shortened but otherwise standard Sierra rack here that might be of use for parts. Pop over next time you are near Southend. If you wanted to use the whole rack you would need to recut the internal thread on one end (or weld the rack end to it). Anyway the rest of it would be good for parts. Swap for 2 bottles of beer sounds fair.
