Striker top rocker bushes
matty h - 6/2/13 at 10:23 PM

I have taken my front suspension to pieces on my striker and have noticed a bit of wear in the top rocker arm bushes having taken them out two seem to be shorter than the other two. Also I believe these bushes wearing is a common problem and they are know to seize up. Is there any improved bush I can fit like a polybush instead of the standard nylon items and would stainless steel tubes be a good idea.
Thanks Matty

I believe Raw do bearing'd versions, not cheap though IIRC.
The standard items are nylon :

they do but you will need to drill the mounting holes and groove one as the spindles are bigger. once you have grooved the mounting hole you will need to fit a tie bar across the rear mount.
advantage is you can change the geometry as well if needed.

I'd guess 2 have been replaced already resulting in the difference.

A common mod' is to drill the outer tube in the middle (between the 2 legs) and tap to take a grease nipple. I did that (and put a slight scroll in the bush) and they've been fine on my Fury ever since.

Stainless tubes would be good. Poly bushes won't work in this application.

They can be converted to needle roller bearings (metro rear swinging arm ones I think) however they range/degree of movement is so small that the load (and wear) is always on the same few needles so there life may not be long.

Is yours adjustable for castor? If not it may be worth doing the mod' I mention in THIS THREAD while you have them apart.

i think i have the needle roller bearing type.

my car has covered around 15k and i dont think there is any wear or slack on mine.

ill be checking it over in the next few weeks and look at this now!

mind you i had the rockers out a couple of years ago to paint and span the bar a few times so i know the bearings have had a good spin.

My rocker arms are non adjustable just had them powder coated, anyone know where I can buy the stainless tubes from and if I need to buy the bushes from raw or if they are available elsewhere.
Thanks Matty
