MX5 Gearbox adapter

I have been wondering if any one does a gearbox adapter plate to mate Ford engines Zetec or Duratec to MK1/2 gearboxes?

MX5 5 speed gearboxes are pretty worthless (less than £50. I can't give my 5 spd away!) as they rarely break and the 6 speed is quite rare but available for less than £400. I paid £250 for my 6spd.

The 6 speed box will take over 300bhp without any bother.

I have used the 1.8 MX5 engine with a supercharger but they are an iron block and not that great for NA tuning.

It would seem like a good idea as the ratios are better than Sierra, especially the 6 speed.

The only down side might be they are a little wider than a type 9.

Mk3 MX5 uses the duratec so maybe the Mk3 Mx5 gearbox is the same as previous generations with a different bellhousing?? That would be too easy though..........

The mk1/2 has an integral bellhousing as does the mk3.

Duratec/mk3 mx5 and zetec are totally different belhousing patterns.
MK1/2 MX5 is totally different belhousing pattern to any of the Fords.
I've been trying to adapt a MK1 mx5 gearbox to a zetec but for what it will cost you can buy a type 9 rebuilt with close ratio gears.
Cheaper still buy a MK1/2 MX5 engine to go with the mx5 gearbox which is what I'm now doing.
