Iv got a escort mk6 steering column I wanted to use for my kit car. But when I tuck it apart I found that were the steering wheel fits the column
it's not a spline style it's a 20pence peace shape .. Can I get a boss to fit it so I can change the wheel as I want paddle shift and a nice
steering wheel
Hope all you good people on hear can help me
Dan
I struggled finding an aftermarket boss for an escort.
In the end I bought one for a puma that seems to have the same fitment!
Its a hexagonal shape (20p is pentagonal
), standard on circa 1980s onwards fords. Yes a new boss will solve it. You most likely have an early ford
boss which is splined and suits mk1/2 escorts and capris etc.
MK2 - MK6 Fiesta all have the hexagonal column, you can still get MK6 Escort boss kits as well. Just a case of finding a cheap one.
The boss kits should all fit but the only thing that might be different is the locating holes for the auto indicator cancel if that's something
that going to affect you.

The price of a puma boss (£60) I might just get a sierra rack that has a splined shaft so it is easier to get a boss plus wheel

Im sure that I have an after market boss to fit a fiesta or escort with hex spindle, could have a look for it if its of use.
