What is this part? Possibly brake related?
Sloan85 - 8/6/13 at 01:01 PM

What is this part? I have two of them. They were in my box of brake bits but cant remember which box they came from as I've not touched the box for 6 months. Fitting the brakes today so don'd want to leave them off if required!

Cheers!!

EDIT - Another question..... My rear Sierra calipers came with two copper washers each. What are these for?

Looks like an anti rattle spring for the pads - is it made out of spring steel.

Copper washers could be for flexible fluid lines with banjo's fitted

Ahh, hadnt thought about that for the washers. Any the item in the photo is sprung steel.

I have sierra rears, wilwood fronts. Mintex pads all round.

The rear pads have springs on them.

Any ideas as to where this would fit is it is an anti rattle spring?

The spring plate is an anti rattle spring. It slots into the oval hole in the caliper. A bit tricky to fit sometimes... but they're not always fitted.

The washers will be for banjo unions on the brake pipes.

Thanks for the help people. The spring thing does fit at the top of the calliper - Looks like the springs on the pads sit on them.

Final question......... With the mintex rear pads I got some very thin adhesive rubber vut to the shape of the pad. I assume this gets stuck on the pad? What is this for? Vibration?

Would I still need copper grease with these rubber things on?

Cheers!!!

Anti squeal pad, does the same job as the copper grease so you don't need both.
