Floor mounted box

Having modified my sierra pedal box I'm considering fabricating a floor mounted box as an alternative, but I have a few questions first.

1. The Sierra box uses a quadrant and pawl to provide a self adjusting mechanism. Is it essential for the SVA to have a self adjuster, or could you install a device that can be adjusted manually from the engine bay?

2. I would expect to be making the pedals about 200mm long. Using a 4:1 ratio this would place the master cylinders push-rod only 40mm from the pivot, which may be a little tight for fixings etc. What's the lowest acceptable ratio that can be used?

2. How's everyone else gone about fixing the cables to the pedals and at which point on the pedal are they fixed? Any photos would be magic.

Also, any general comments appreciated.

Cheers guys.

these are my pedals in the indy. all cable adjustment is manual and done in the engine bay. this is how mk supply it and i'm guessing they get through sva that way.

the cable ends are from mk as well, and they sell them at shows, along with brake pedal yoke. they're about £3-5 a piece afaik. i got them when i got my seats and charlie sort of threw them in.

the clutch pedal has a yoke and the cable fastens in with grub screws. on the other side of the bulkhead is a nylon top hat bush type thing with a threaded section to give cable adjustment and allow you to make a custom length outer cable. accelerator is the same design

ps hellfire's site has some good innovation with pedal stops etc and photos too iirc Rescued attachment pedals small.jpg

this is another angle.

with brake push rod mounted where it is and a hole in the centre of the steel strip, i had to file the gap in the yoke deeper. with hindsight i would have put the hole closer to the forward edge of the pedal. daft i know, but its better to do it first time than prat about

the return stops are steel strip bent 90 degrees then just bolted to the pivot bolt. works well, also suggested by charlie. if you have a problem, a saturday morning at mk talking to him will sort it out one way or another
