brake pedal return spring?
nick205 - 25/10/04 at 03:07 PM

GMTBH's post on brake pipe unions has got me thinking about brakes.

Has anyone fitted a return spring to their brake pedal or do you just rely on the spring in the master cylinder?

I'm probably thinking too much about this!

the standard return spring in mine seems more than sufficient. I had to relieve a bit of the pressure from push rod as it was beginning to deform my ally floor. everything was set up a bit tight to start with, but i would say the sierra return is ample

yep mine returns ok without an added spring, beware though the pedal pivot can bind though as mine did on the way to SVA (quick pit stop to slack it off cured )

Also i bolted a plate on the floor so the pedal comes to rest on somethin more solid.

Mine has a return spring to hold it against the brake light switch. It had one in its original use so I refitted it. It's an Escort pedal with Sierra M/C.

Mine seems OK without one, but as I haven't driven it yet I wasn't sure. I think I'll leave it without for now and see how it feels on the road.

Cheers for the feedback guys.
