I need/want to fully change the oil in the rear axel of the Ginetta. Its a Mk2 Escort type, which I believe is an English Axel?
I had a nose and can see the filling plug but no drain, is this correct or am I being blind?
If there is no drain, I assume a half shaft /endplat needs to come off? or is there a trick to it?
There is no drain plug, they were filled for life. Many of these axles were used in motorsport and were fitted with drain plugs by the race car
builder. Just off the top of my head what about a syringe with a pipe attached through the filler?
Other than that you will need to remove a halfshaft and jack up the other end so the oil runs out the end of the axle.
The tool. for the job is a Pela 6000 Vacuum Oil Extractor, it makes oil changes a quick mess free business.
Thanks both,
I did start to remove a half shaft to drain but soon found I needed a slide hammer.
I have one of those vac extractors that I used for brake bleeding, I'll give that a go.
