Ride height and camber
Yanto - 12/2/14 at 07:19 PM

Just wondering if a car that has been set up for the track, i.e. ride height as low as it will go, then if you wind the ride height up so it clears speed bumps will the camber change?

I tried to figure it out in my head but my brain started to hurt, so I thought I would ask people who have experience.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, quite a lot (try jacking up the car and seeing what happens to the wheels as you raise the car).

depends on the suspension set up.

but with most 7 types I would say yes.

if you jack the car up and let the wheels drop the will have positive camber instead of negetive

Thanks, yes double wishbones, actually I just made a model with my forefinger and thumb (upper & lower wishbones) then moved the tips (Connection to body) up and down and looked what happened to web between finger & thumb (upright).

I also see that if the wishbones were parallel then it wouldn't change.

They'd have to be equal length and parallel for it not to change (not just parallel).

of course they would need to form a parallelogram, I never thought of that!
