Given I appears that im rebuilding nearly everything on my car before it see's the tarmac again. I'm looking to get my coilovers
refurbed.
I can see through a very faded sticker that the original manufacturer was SPAX.
Any recommendations for good service at reasonable rates?
Try Spax for a start? They have been going for a long time.
You need to see which model Spax you have. The cheapest (and most common) versions are peened shut and are hence pretty much impossible to rebuild.
Equally the rods are welded to the top eyes making changing a poorly rod more than awkward.
Look at the top of the body where the rod goes in. If you can see the slightly rounded edge where the metal of the body has been folded down to close
the shock then you have two choices. Use as is or bin.
Good opportunity to swap to some decent shocks such as ProTech....
I went for Gaz instead, supplied by Cornering Force.
Not much more than spax for a much better shock than the entry-level one I had on my Fury.

Sounds like it may well be possible. Is there also a locknut under the top eye? Expect to pay around £50 per unit for a proper rebuild. Kee a close eye on the price as you'll not need to find many extras (rod replacement for example) before you could be better off buying new. For example: ProTech
