Hi all,

Im after some advise as usual, I noticed since having my kit on the road, going round bends, if I hit a bump the car moves sideways, im running sierra hubs with offset top wishbone mounting, did adjust bump steer over winter break, its better, have not had the car professionally set up yet, any ideas what could be causing this, in a straight line over bumps there is no movement.

Is it rebound too slow? Front or rear, or both?

I have no rebound adjustment, running spax coilovers, adjusted bump steer by moving rack up and down mountings, using laserlight, not sure ive got my castor right, would this affect car going round bends etc, will take pictures when I get home and post. been on the road 4 years now, only just got back on road this week, allways new it had fault, just lived with it.

Guess it depends how bad you see it as to be honest, my tin top jumps to the side when I wind up the rebound damping, that's just a natural response to losing grip. That said, if the steering twitches notably sideways or it feels more like it's steering sideways when you're not inputting it it's another matter. Many many variables. Worth taking to a suspension setup company? It's usually only £100ish.

yes I would like to take it to be set up, not sure bump steer has gone, mine is not that adjustable for castor etc, my first car, still learning, would like to know its somewhere near before wasting someone's time etc. its rides nice on smooth roads, people have commented how soft smooth it is, perhaps someone on here would volunteer to have a look at/or try it out for me.

Try tweaking the tracking. Mine was awful at first. I dialled out almost all bump steer by repositioning the rack and made sure I'd got lots of castor, none of which made much difference.
Finally I started to try changing the tracking. Small differences made a huge difference. I can't remember which way I went but mine is on Cortina hubs so bound to be different from yours.

Is it happening at the front or rear?

Tyre pressure too high, springs too hard, shocks to stiff?

Its good to try and get it geo set up, especially at procomp. They check and test all of you shocks and adjust to suit.

They essentially end up giving you a shopping list of things you will need to make it better but at least you have an idea of the root to your problem.

mainly front left, tyres at 18 psi, springs on front 275lb I believe, 8 clicks from off, (22 on adjuster,) weight on front axel 340kg,

just had a look again, looks like my bump steer adjustment over the winter was not as accurate as I thought,
have noticed steering arms are in different position relative to lower wishbones, (viewed from top looking down),
will try adjusting over weekend,
don't want to have geo setup done till I get this somewhere in the ball park, (don't want to look like a complete lemon).
spoke to procomp a while back, bump is not part of there geo setup, understandably so, take so much time etc,
get this sorted and its next on my upgrade list, heard really good things about there service / spoke to them on phone etc. all been delayed.

will get tracking etc done at garage for now, after bump steer sorted, as from all ive read they go hand in hand,

My gaz shocks have 22 clicks. I started at 22 :- and slowly moved down till I got to about 8 clicks.

Then my mates kid turned one of the knobs lol so I started at the bottom and worked up. I'm now on 3 clicks all-round and the ride quality and handling difference is epic.
