While doing my engine swap, I took the chance to swap the plastic gearbox saddle in my type 9 gearbox for a new one. The shifter is also fitted with
one of the RD quick shift kits - the ones with the spacer. With the new saddle fitted, when I push the gearbox lever down, it is sticking down. A
little pull gets it back up. Because the lever is cutdown, I've shortened the lever a bit to make sure the spring is compressed and it seems fine
off the car.
I am guessing that once I get it in use it will loosen up a bit, was just wondering if anyone has experienced the same?
Try refitting without the saddle. Does it still stick down. Thus you will know of the saddle is at fault. Fettle the saddle if it is otherwise you may select reverse in the heat of the moment.
