Are metal wheel valves worth the money... do they provide any benefit?

I've seen some Hub Buddies lightweight alloy ones from DT for about £14, thoughts please as I'm fitting tyres to new wheels this Sat.

Ho ho... NO! They corrode and stick to the wheel, the same as ali dust caps stick.

Not worth the money IMO.

Agree. Corruption is the issue. Only advantage is at VERY high speed where centrifugal forces can affect rubber valves... But that is beyond speeds you'd be doing.
Other than that they're just bling... Unreliable bling!

The other alternative is chromed plated steel which are even heavier than you might expect.

...or rubber valves with chrome/coloured slieves. Not sure whether you can get just the slieves that fit over existing valves.

Proper BBS race wheels use steel valve bodies but for normal use the ally' ones are just pointless bling.

Have a look for the really stubby scooter spec rubber valves, you can get a pack of 25 on ebay for £3.75, they are much more discreet.
