Hi all,
I made my brake pedal to 'Haynes' dimensions, as per the book. This gives me about 22mm of deflection on the plunger on my master cylinder.
The cylinder itself has 35 mm of travel before it hits the end stops. Do I need to redesign my pedal to give me all of this movement, or is what I
have enough? Or will I not know until I connect the calipers and fill with fluid........
If it helps, I am using a stepped mini master cylinder with 17.8 and 19mm bores, cortina front and golf rear calipers

I'd say you need to redesign it.
When it's all working that amount of travel may be OK. However when you have an issue with the system (fluid leak/brake fade/etc) then you NEED
all the travel you can get.
