Hi i need a bit of help i bought a kit car which was already built. it has a set of ford single piston calipers on it the piston size is 60mm and no really good identifying casting marks except for a large 38 has anyone got an idea what this caliper came from as i have got trouble identifying them to buy overhaul kits for them

If it's an MK Indy, are they not Ford Sierra calipers?

Kit car, but which? Although they are probably escort, cortina if not sierra

some said its a large piston for a sierra

Mondeo you should find code near the inlet hose fitting.

Do they look anything like the below?

Mine are ford single 60mm piston calipers. Disc size is 260mm. They are from a 2ltr Sierra.

cheers that's the one i've done a little research its a 887/888 caliper. do you have like a very wooden feel to your brakes ?

They are pretty good really, but I need to make sure I keep the rear drums adjusted well.

Have thought about upgrading to a set on Mintex 1144 pads and grooved discs, just not got round to it over the winter.

Back on the road now so thought I'd refresh the memory and then decide.

im thinking about a 4 pot system such as the willwoods i only running a standard 2 ltr pinto but have a st170 engine sitting in my garage with bike carbs and a engine ecu from chester sports cars so will need to upgrade the brakes
