I'm currently doing the steering for my project. Settled on the escort rack because it's roughly the right length (only needs shortening
~10mm) and there is a good choice of ratios available.
I've bought two new/recon racks so far, std ratio and 2.4 (plans changed). I'm going to machine solid mounts for it, but the two escort
rack castings are different. Bare ally is std ratio, painted black is the 2.4 ratio.
My question is, why are the mounting faces of the black casting curved like that? it looks deliberate, but makes no sense to me. Does anyone know
where I can get a 2.4 ratio rack with which looks like the bare ally example in the picture? I'm reluctant to machine the rack housing, I'd
rather have a solution where by future racks (should I need one) will fit straight in.

Not sure if this helps your solid mount plans but I bought some poly bush rack supports from Rally Design and they come as 2 piece kit with a large D shape and a presumably optional smaller inner sleeve which may or may not be fitted depending on what size your rack is
Hello,
Yeah I have the poly bush kit, but its the loose fit of the bush which has encouraged me down the solid mounting route. I wondered if someone might
know whether one of those castings is original, and if one is a repro?
Checkout Rally design they were re making escort racks
what's stopping you from mixing and matching the internals between casings?
