Shocks, what would you do?
mark chandler - 29/11/15 at 09:23 PM

Since shorterning my wishbones the shocks are possibly a tad to long on the front.

Remove springs and drop the car, it sits on the bump stops with 2" ground clearance, pull the bump stops out and the chassis is 3/4" off the ground so I have a couple of choices.

The existing shocks have 10" closed length, the springs would also need changing for a shorter item and I would rather weld than spend !

The car gets sprinted so has hard suspensions settings.

Thanks Mark

You'll be limited to 40mm ground clearance in libre. I ran my radical bang on 40mm and it used to ground out under hard breaking!

Raising the mount 1" means the bump stop looks after the last 1" of travel, in theory it will bottom out once these are crushed, leaving where it is the car will never bottom out.

I will be running a diffuser so leaving as is this item may scrape the road... Things tend to flex a lot and the rear will jack up.

this is it hanging in the air

Are you replacing the cycle wings for full body?
I feel on the hills it's a big advantage to be able to see the front corner of the car! If your doing fast sprints then the full body may help. I fount the radical a lot easier to deal with on faster sprints than the tight hills,as you need the front end to be in the absolute perfect position on every corner!

Hello Dam

Chassis now cut down to fit, so no going back, full body it is for next year.

I,m hoping the extra weight will be offset by the additional aero and the shorter wheelbase will help turn in.

It'll handle well I'm sure.
Do you want some testing early next year (late February) at Blyton? I've Also got some near new circuit crossplies in13" which I'll be ditching for some softer tyres for the coming season, these slicks are soft though so if you want them,I'm sure we can sort something. The rears are wide though as I run 10" rear rims

I will definitely be after some softer tyres, the car is now running 7" rims all around so anything you have to suit let me know

February is possible, it depends on how I get on over Christmas fitting it out and of course the weather, I went to Brands once with Craig in the snow... A complete waste of time I think that was in February. We had to wait 2 hours shivering before they agreed that they could not clear the circuit and offer a refund.
