Aftermarket steering wheel help
DB_INDY - 31/1/16 at 09:07 AM

Hi all, I've recently bought a MK Indy and I'm now wanting to make a few changes I've search the forum but not found the answer I'm after. So basically I want to change the steering wheel on my Indy it's got a serria column with the hex shaft and a 22mm nut that hold the current boss In place but I want to change this so I can run a new suede wheel.

That's where my problem starts at the moment I've got an astrali 1970 boss with a astrali steering wheel but the new steering wheel has a smaller centre diameter so I need to find a new boss to then fit the new wheel too I've searched online but can seem to find the one I'm after so any help would be great

Shouldn't be too much of a problem if the column is stock Ford and the wheel's a Sparco one.
I'd give Demon Tweeks a call as they're a Sparco retailer and usually helpful.
Cheers, Pewe10

I did the same on a Sierra column. Demon tweeks had them in stock and were only about £25 iirc.

I now have an OMP suede wheel fitted.

I don't suppose you have a part number or make you have fitted?
Any pictures of it fitted

Thanks

Bear with me. The box is in the garage, I'll go and have a look.

That's brilliant exactly what I'm after and a very similar wheel to what I'm getting was you steering column exactly the same to the one I've pictures just checking as I will get that ordered today!

Yes mate, identical column without the shroud. It's made for the Sierra so will fit with the shroud. The wheel is lovely too. I don't have a quick rack (yet) so the bigger wheel slowed the steering down but other than that, no complaints.

With that boss the original steering lock will work too if you still have it fitted.

That looks great. Just out of interest, is that a weld on quick release? Why aren't you fitting that?

It's a bolt on quick release but that will be fitted aswell aslong as it doesn't push the wheels too far out
