Hi Folks.
Sorry for asking this, as I'm sure it has been answered somewhere on here, but now I can't find it.
Had a quick look at my front nuts (if you'll pardon the expression )yesterday, and there are no threads visible out side them, in fact the
studs don't even reach the outside of the nuts
So, I have Sierra front disks on my Indy, I think, and Mondeo 5 spoke alloys. Would anyone happen to know what length studs I need ?
It would save me doing my usual knee jerk buy something from Ebay which is completely useless to me
Would imagine it depends on depth of hub plus nut and three threads less taper, hope this makes sense still drunk from last night
Yes, you're probably right Mate, was being a bit lazy I suppose.
Hope the head isn't too sore. No such problem for me as I'm on so many pain killers at the mo, I daren't drink
You need the right amount of thread engagement. For ford studs I researched and found it was a bare minimum of 9mm although I believe MSA regs state
15mm?
Mine had 10mm and I wasn't happy with that so put longer studs in. They are a bugger to swap though!
I put 50mm studs from burton power all round as my alloys are thick, you can easily cut them down once fitted. If you have a vice and a couple of sockets they press out pretty easy.
Thanks Furry.
Do you happen to have Burton's part number? I can only find 47mm or 63mm.
My bad... They were the 63mm ones, i cut them to 50mm.
Cheers Mate
The general rule of thumb for any bolt is it's diameter + 1 or 2 thread pitches, hense the ~15mm for the M12 studs
Btw rally design sell the studs at these lengths too
