Re-Using Balljoint
scootz - 14/12/16 at 01:45 PM

So, you've switched off for a mo, and inserted a balljoint through the wrong side of the wishbone!

I've pressed it back out - can I re-use it and put it back in (the right side!).

If there is no damage to the joints taper or rubber boot, I can see no reason as to why you cant re-use the joint.

I'd say the same TBH if you've not damaged the taper or boot then I'd refit the right way.

Again I see no reason why not, it hasn't started to bed in (or wear out if you prefer) so no reason not to re seat it the right way round.

You mean the type that a serated shoulder that is pressed into the wishbone ? ----just use a permanent grade of Loctite

One of these...

... and I'd just refitted them before reading your post.

Should I remove and refit.. again... with loctite?

If it is snug just leave it be.

I miss my Elise some times....

Any photos Scootz?

I did all my wishbones about 6 months before selling mine, I found they had to be pressed in with quite a bit of force so should be fine.
