Hi all
Just had the engine out of my Zero to do some work and changed the thrust bearing on the clutch for good measure before i put it back in, when i first
started it up the bearing was making a rattling noise on idle and acceleration. (putting pressure on the pedal does shut it up)I tried to adjust the
cable and nothing changed so a friend of mine had a look and managed to shut it up but did say that the clutch fork may be loose or moving. Drove the
car down the road for 2 miles and the noise is back.
The bite does seem higher than normal...has anyone any ideas ?
Set up is 2.0 zetec blacktop with MT75 box and standard zetec clutch.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated

Are you using the bonded spacer on the bearing ?

Thanks for the response....standard bearing from kit spares for MT75 which was exactly the same as the one that came out

Almost certain that either the bearing or the fork is unclipped no way round it you have to split the engine and box again.

Despite me having the engine out i am still a novice on mechanics and did the job with loads of pics and labelling when i removed everything, so the
question is....can i run it through the summer or will i cause some damage ?
If the thrust bearing is loose or the fork is loose it could detach completely and you get stranded by the side of the road so best to sort it out

It's just one of those things it may be you have a duff thrust bearing or it may not have clipped onto the fork properly
I only took the engine out...wonder if i did it trying to line it up with the bellhousing and input shaft
I bought a car many years ago that was sold as spares or repair because of clutch slip drove it around for a bit then got fed up with the clutch slip decided to sort it out took gearbox off to find a half inch ratchet extention bar jamming the clutch fork removed it put the gearbox back and no clutch slip wot a result
