Are there any exterior markings on a type 9 gearbox which indicate what gear ratios are inside. If not how do you know what they are????

Biggest differences are in input shaft length , i4 is short and v6 is long.
Other way is put it in 1st, turn the input shaft and count how rotations to get one of the output. More accurately count ten rotation and divide by
ten.

Also don't forget the diesel type 9 has the long input shaft but a very low 1st gear which is totally useless in a seven type car
