Does anyone know what ratio live axle would be in a Mk2 1300 Escort and will it be an English axle?
Cheers,

There's a page on axles on my website.

If it's a standard axle it should be 3.89:1 and should be Timken English axle.

Pat,

Probably the best one to go for would be a 3.54 from a sport or Ghia, seems to suit 4 speed box quite well.
I suppose that's irrelevant if you've got a 3.89, you'll have a bit better acceleration though!

I have a 3.77, have a 3.89 coming, but think I will need a 3.54 as I'm going the fireblade route!

To cruise in a BEC, a 3.54 diff is the best English axle to go for.

If you want to go lower, then you need to start looking at the Wider Capri axles.

Cheers Steve,
Locost Blade in production at the moment to see what the crack is all about!
English axle coming Wednesday, just got to find a 3.54 diff....

May be worth giving West Wales Rally Spares a ring. If they can't supply a complete diff, they may be able to sell you a 3.54 Crown Wheel & Pinion to convert your existing one.

Cheers Steve,
Do you know how hard it is to change the CWP?
Thanks,
