Hi,

I am just about to start the build of a Talon Engineering MX5 based roadster.
The two questions I have are.
1. Will I need to replace my power steering rack with something else?
2. With the MX5 engine being quite bulky would i need to have a couple of universal joints in my steering column?

1 The power steering rack can be 'depowered' so could be used, I put two UJ's from my MX5 column to my Escort Mk 2 rack (no I didn't use the MX5 one) the Ford ones are available new cheaply (and can be a quick rack which is helpful with a seven as well.

Thanks for that Ian, I will have to keep a look out for an escort rack. I had an escort track on my MK Indy.

If you're planning on going to Stoneleigh next month, it might be worth holding off getting a steering rack until then. Rally Design normally take a pile along and sell them a fair bit cheaper than normal.
