Just spent a happy couple of hours freezing my nads off in the breakers looking at Sierras. The Sierra semi trailing arms seem to have the hub
carrier welded/cast into the arms so how is that converted for use in a Tiger Avon/ MK Indy?
Then, after half an hour looking at my old 323i (the prospective donor car), I wondered if it would be possible to utlise the BMW's semi-trailing arm
rear suspension with coilovers. The BMW's arms are much lighter than a Sierra and they mount parallel to the floor (unlike the Sierra mountings which
look to be about 30 degrees from the horizontal). Has anybody ever built a similar set-up? I know the mountings would have to be aligned and
fabricated properly but it seems to be a damn sight more straight forward than a twin wishbone set-up.
Cheers,
Jim (quickly stepping into Nomex underwear as protection against the inevitable flames...)
if you take the wheel and drum off the seirra you will see 4 bolts that attach the hub to the trailing arm, undo them and hey presto, nowt wrong with bmw,i had a few, excelent car.
