It's an oval grommet with a slit in the middle for the arm that you attach to the handbrake cable/bar.

ah yes - that one's almost impossible to get these days. I think Dick Axtell found some (do a search he's a member on here) but they were a crazy price.

About £10-£15 if I remember correctly and only available from one source.

Don't buy any - true Locost principle. Get a bike inner tube and cut a section about 50mm long. Slot it over the parts and hold on with a small tie wrap.

I am going to try the little nipple things that go on the internal adjustable things on door mirrors. They look like they should fit with a little adaption

I was going to try some Tiger seal. Block the hole with it and let it set, then cut a slot in it. Try putting some grease round it to make it removable after it sets.
