Converting a FWD donor to RWD and BEC...

I'm sorting out my next project which will include a small lightweight practical(ish) daily runner with...
4 wheels
A heater
Doors
A roof
A ZZR1400 motor
A reverse gear
RWD
My question is whether there a sensible set of 'standard' options as a donor rear subframe to mount the ZZR motor, with chain driven diff
(Westgarage) and then the suspension and uprights that would need a sensible amount of integration design to mount into the donor monocoque... This
option would simplify the process of designing a suspension setup that isn't dangerous and may speed up the project considerably.
Or is it easier to just design and weld up a custom spaceframe to do this?
Options that seem viable at the moment are...
MR2
MGF
MX5
Any input welcome!
Chris.

My neighbour has a normal Smart and I must say it looks to lend itself pretty well to the suggested project.
Pretty sure the engine, transmission and rear suspension is all mounted in a detachable rear sub-frame. I think the whole lot can be taken out
complete as well.
You could probably remove it and modify the sub-frame to take the ZZR1400, refit it and away you go. I've no idea what the legal regulations
around this would be in terms of inspection etc. but it can't be impossible to do.
Only bummer is the neighbours cat loves a warm car bonnet and the normal Smart doesn't have one. Their cat is pretty hacked off about this and
makes use of other cars (SWMBOs included) in the street instead

Many years ago, an old schoolfriend of my mother's had her car repaired and the bonnet and front wings repainted. The paint was one that while
drying quick enough, wouldn't be fully hardened for a week. She came to visit and, when she was leaving, found our cat on the bonnet and the
paint marked in various places.

there was a thread on here recently
Toyota iQ rear wheel drive conversion, zzr1400...

which covers some of the options
edit:
I see it was you started both threads!

Thanks all!
Yeah gremlin. Trying to plan for how I would integrate a ready made subframe with mods, or just go the whole hog and design the rear end myself...
Still looking for some other suggestions or build threads! But people don't seem to convert FWD to RWD that often.
