Hi folks
I’m struggling to find a source for the white plastic triangular bush that fits within the telescopic part of the Sierra steering column, mine has all
but disintegrated as can be seen in the photo, help appreciated.
Steering bush
I suspect that may never have been available as a spare part.
But that should make someone come along with a Sierra parts cat and prove me wrong
Here's hoping.......
I am also sure it was a non service item and never available.
I would say your best bet is a replacement column.
I want a set of non adjustable shrouds, I bet there even harder to find...

Non serviceable was my concern...
I have two alternative approaches; 1. Brute force- use a punch to collapse the outer tube to grip the inner bar, 2. Techy- a friend has a 3D printer
and loves a challenge.

Hi,
When I built my Haynes, a friend from the Haynes forum made an aluminium one for me with his lathe. It fits the triangular part inside, and the
diameter of my bearing on the outside. It has a inserted alen lock-screw to lock the bush on the triangular column. Pretty simple to do on a lathe I
guess.

And I'm sure it will never fail. The 3D printer option is a good one, but how long is a new bush made from 3D printer plastic going to last? I
would go for a more durable option.
Hope that will help

I was going to say I think it's this bush your after as the other one is still available from multiple sources.
What about making some shims up and plug welding them to the inner.
Will still allow it to slide.

That’s neat solution, but for a different part of the column, the bush I’m after is further up
Steering bush 2
Go for 3D printed, easy to make and will hold.
I used countersunk alu rivets for fixing the telescopic bushing. With some sandpaper finish and grease the telescopic function worked a treat.
