Hello guys,
For the people, like me, needing to select a steering rack solution, I think useful a comparison in terms of ratio between rack travel and steering
wheel turns (travel per turn), which represents (given a specific upright arm geometry) how sensible and quick will be the steering.
I know that this info can be simply calculated by lock-to-lock turns and max steering rack travel, but while locktolock info are available, I did not
find total travel.
I also asked rallydesign but no final answer on this subject.
I measured this for the standard Sierra rack I have in the garage:
- number of pinion teeth: 5
- distance of 5 teeth measured along the rack: 38.75 mm
So we have 38.75 mm / turn
Some volunteer to provide similar info for Sierra and Escord standard and quick steering solutions ?
Thank you
Keeping in mind that you may end up with a car that's very difficult to park unless you have power steering
Yes of course
