Sorry, can't help on the width, but........when you do come to get the shaft sorted, if you don't want to cut and weld the shafts (I don't like the idea!) then GB Engineering in Nantwich supply purpose made to length lightweight shafts which are "unbreakable" at £70 a piece, which I think is very good value.

will they spline them to suit the sierra running gear?

Oh yes! Splined to suit, thinner shafts so much lighter, EN27 material heat treated and super strong. Everybody (well, pretty much!) in autograss specials use them with locked diffs and huge power outputs with no problems (well, not for those with sane power levels anyway!)

I have them on my class 9, with locked diff and 200 hp and they are superb, as is everything I have bought from Geoff Berrisford engineering. I have no connection but they just engineer superb stuff at those sort of prices that are not "cheap" but are superb "value" (i.e. they don't break and do fit, unlike "cheap" stuff!)

Sounds like a name to store away for future reference me things, only about 40 minutes from me too
