Hi

I have a locost which i am racing i have found out this week that my calipers are shot so i bought some re-con sierra items which do not fit my hubs.

the question is how can i get these to fit i think i have the wrong hubs on the car which ones will i need and where can i get them from.

Stupid question but I assume you do have Sierra uprights...? How do they not fit? (pics?) Bolt spacing on the upright or something else (disk thickness)

I think that is the problem the uprights look like they are westfiled alloy items and not sierra ones that i need any ideas of where i can get some and will sierra calipers bolt on to cortina uprights.
also do the new uprights need to machined to be able to fit the cycle wings?

AFAIK the westfield alloy uprights are based on cortina geometry.

Sierra calipers wont bolt onto Cortina uprights.

You can get new standard cortina calipers from

www.brakesint.com

And there are many companies selling wilwood (or other alloy) calpiers with cortina fitment.

The cortina calipers are M16.

Looking at your website, are you competing in the Locost racing series? If you are then I'm surprised you can use alloy uprights! Even more surprised you bought Sierra calipers!

It's ok as i got the sierra calipers foc so thats not a problem the hubs on the car have had the thread stripped out of the mounting bracket so i need new uprights and hubs do the cortina uprights have the mountigs for the wing bracket.

Most people use the mounting points for the 'splash' sheild to mount there cycle wing brackets since you remove the splash sheild anyway.

Good luck finding some Cortina uprights at a reasonable price.... I just managed to get some from a mate on the cheap....(before you suggest banger drivers (as i do) many are wise to the kit car market and are selling them to kit manufacturers for a tidy sum, so are recluctant to part with them sometimes)

Gazza, I might have a pair of nearly new Wilwood Dynalites (complete with Cortina adaptors) going begging if you decide to go that route. I've also got one Cortina hub too.

There are 2 different calipers fitted to the run of the mill Sierra - girling and teves.

Do you have the old calipers - i assume they are different to the new ones, maybe this is the reason. I would take th enew calipers back and also take the knackered ones along - maybe you can identify them out of a catalogue.

Get the old upright helicoiled --- should be stronger than original. Altenative drill and tap for larger bolt.
