book doesnt seem to mention steering rack shortening of the mk 2 escort rack? does it fit directly on to the book chassis?

the rack was suposed to be shortened to stop bump steer,ive never had a problem with that and my rack is standard length,just make sure the steering arms are horizontal when the rack is fitted,bounce up n down to settle the suspension first as it will settle.
