Capri/escort brakes on cortina hubs
clbarclay - 27/4/05 at 04:48 PM

I doubt brakes that came off my donor (escort mk2 1300) are standard by a long way. Photo of wide caliper and vented disc in photo archive. I suspect the discs are capri and the calipers escort (widend) or capri.

Having put the discs on cortina hubs/uprights and tried the calipers on, there is a gap of about 2mm between upright and the caliper mounts.

Is it acceptable (SVA passable) if I make a spacer and use longer bolts to fill the gap?

I believe their off either a 2.8 Capri or mexico Mk2 Escort, they orignally had a 2-3mm thick washer between the caliper and upright.

No reason you couldn't make your own.

I found that a standard thickish M12 washer did the trick for me. I am using Wilwood calipers but should be the same.

I have 2.8 capri vented discs on cortina uprights with princess calipers, the spacer kit for the calipers came from rally design (IIRC) and included a set of thick spacer washers to go in between the caliper and the upright.

So basically - yes you'll be fine.
