sierra steering column

Will someone agree with me, on a none adjustable column, the collapsible bit between the steering wheel & the column mounting collapses in an accident, on an adjustable column the collapsible bit is forward of the mounting & actually expands in an accident?

thanks all

Spot on with the non-adjustable, and I think you are right with the adjustable - it certainly seems that way.

The adjustable one I have has the wrinkly bit behind the mount and stretches away from it in an impact. The non adjuster one in my other car has the bracket actually round the collapsible part so it will squash towards it. That's from memory so I'll have a look tomorrow to check.

I was worried when I got my adjustable from ST but Ian reassured me that it was how it was supposed to be and that uit would be bent if it was collapsed.
