Sierra Column Age?

Help!!!

Gotta Sierra column. Definitely one with steering wheel operated horn. NOT stalk-operated.

So, how do you tell if it's pre-'87, or post-'87??
Need to be able to make sure, before ordering the boss kit.

Anyone got the expertise?

i cant say for sure, but a picture of the wheel fitted would help. There are about 4 types from different years. id guess it was post 87, but thats only a guess...

Your local Ford dealer may be able to tell from the light switch part number , thats if they are a little more helpful than our local dealers in Cambridge

Dont the different years have different steering wheel mount. Ie one has a nut and one has a bolt? Or am i way off the mark?

Square or round hazard light switch.

should be the date marked on the switches

Thanks, Conrod, I'll check that out.

ReMan, the hazard switch has a round "top" profile, and a partially squared-off rear edge. Will try to sort out a pic - sometime. Not mobile at the moment.

Thanks to all for feedback.

Joel -

Finally got up to the lock-up, and took this steering wheel shot.

So, pre-'87, or post-'87??

I always thought it was a simple pre 87 was the stalk horn, and post 87 has the centre push. The wheel retainer changed from nut to bolt in mid 90

that wheel is post '87
