Bought myself a brake pipe flaring kit as a Christmas present (I know how to look after myself!)
The question is, what flares do I need to use. Seems they mostly need to be male, and a couple of double onto the flexible hoses. Does this seem
right? Or do I just use doubles everywhere???
PS, I bought a cheap one - Laser - made about 3 practice flares b4 the flaring insert snapped and one of the wing-nut tighteners jammed. When will I
learn to buy decent tools! Chap at the Factors is gonna swap it for me...
The way to tell which flare is reguired is by simply looking into the hole where the brake pipe will be seated. Most T pieces etc need a single flare,
but joins to flexi pipes usually require a double flare. But do check first.....
HTH Stu.
Jasper, I did a sketch called flares in my archive...it may help a bit.
Thanks chaps - now I've actually started looking at the joints this evening it did all slowly dawn ..... that's what comes of asking the question b4
thinking about it first.
And thanks Alan - I will go have a look...
