Gearbox conversion????

Any one out there ever converted a type 9 box to hydraulic clutch?? and does any one know if the mondeo slave cyl can be retrofitted to the type 9? , irealy would like to do away with the cable

Have you seen the hydraulic clutch thread in the MK forum? (It's on a Toyota though, not a Type 9)

As you say the willwood conversion is a tad expensive. I wonder could a cossie fork be modded to fit?

Apparently it can be done m8, but is a bit of a wee about.
From what I have been told, you need to use a V6 type 9 box, as it has a longer input shaft. A spacer then needs to be made to sit between the box and the bell housing to make the difference in lengths up. The V6 box is needed to allow adequate space for the Mondeo/Focus slave/thrust bearing. Its then a case of making adaptations to fix the slave into position.

Ok so its probably not a real option at £200 + the master cyl. set up, but you can get a hydraulic release bearing that does away with the slave cyl., lever arm etc. Tilton make them I think.
